The SemiColon Club
Thank goodness for cancer support groups. But if you have colorectal cancer, and show up at a support group filled with breast cancer survivors, sometimes it just doesn't meet your needs. Each cancer has its own set of symptoms, treatments and side effects. If someone isn't at the meeting who has walked in your shoes, you probably aren't going to get the answers and support you came looking for. That is why CCNetwork has The SemiColon Club, for colorectal cancer survivors. We want to bring the newly diagnosed together with the survivors who have already made this journey. We want you to feel comfortable talking about these personal issues, in surroundings of utmost privacy. We want you to get the support and answers you need.
The SemiColon Friends
When someone you love gets cancer it can be frightening, confusing, and often overwhelming experience for the caregiver or friend. Often we want so much to help but just don't know how. We don't speak our fears and concerns because we don't want to add to the burden of the person who is battling against cancer. But where is a safe place to do this?
This is why CCNetwork offers support groups just for care givers and friends. This is a place where you can talk about the frustrations, anxieties, questions and hurts that are unique to the caregiver.
Privacy Policy
Care must be taken to preserve privacy from the press, radio, television and films. While we want to dispel the idea that there is a "shame" associated with this disease it must be recognized that the issues discussed may be uncomfortable for some people to talk about. In addition, people might be reluctant to seek support if what they share might be discussed outside of the support area where they were helped. All participants should be comfortable seeking support with complete assurance that their privacy will be protected.
No commercial interests should ever be expressed or furthered at the support meetings.
No individual should receive official recognition as the spokesperson or leader for a local support group. Each member speaks only for himself or herself. This is to lessen the possibility of personal recognition, power, or prestige, from getting in the way of the objective of helping each other
