Don't Panic! Accept the diagnosis, not the prognosis
|
OK so your doctor has told you that you have
colon CANCER. The first thing you need to do is to realize that this does not automatically mean a death
sentence. This site is designed to help you make informed decisions based on your diagnosis.
Colon Cancer (CRC, colorectal, rectal) is one of the most treatable forms of cancer when diagnosed early, and the state of the art is continually changing for advanced stages. There are two main types of CRC, Rectal and Colon.
There are also two less common types, Anal and appendiceal.
If you haven't already done so you will need to choose
a surgeon. Check out the The American Society of Colon and
Rectal Surgeons Web site.
